Let's change things up a little. Here's a video for all of you 70's and 80's classic rock fans. I don't go to concerts too often, but I had the opportunity to catch Elton John on his farewell tour last weekend when he and his band came into town. Pretty cool that they performed for a college town in the middle of rural PA. I've always been a fan of 70's and 80's classic rock, but I started listening to Elton John at a young age and was really inspired by his music - he's the reason I started playing the piano. He first hit the music charts half a century ago, and is now preparing to retire, so I wanted to see him in concert one last time. This was my second time seeing Elton John live, the first when he was on the Face-2-Face tour with Billy Joel in 2009.
The Farewell tour features long-time band members Davey Johnstone on guitar, Ray Cooper on percussion, and Nigel Olsson on drums, along with Matt Bissonette on bass guitar, John Mahon on percussion, and Kim Bullard on keyboards.
The concert lasted about 2 hours and 40 minutes. I didn't record the entire concert; mainly just the beginning, ending, and a few of my favorite songs that they performed. A couple of these songs hadn't been performed live for years, so it was nice to hear him play some of those forgotten hits. Here are the songs included in the video...please feel free to skip around.
