It's Not My Choice is a 2015 Manipuri Short Film (subtitled in English). The film is based on the issues of LGBT Rights. The film is made by 18 years old film-maker, Priyakanta Laishram from Imphal, Manipur. The film is produced and distributed under his own banner PRIYAKANTA PRODUCTIONS. About : Bishesh Huirem, a transgender actor and beautician from Manipur who is also going to represent India at MISS INTERNATIONAL QUEEN 2017 plays the protagonist of this film. He takes the role of a young transgender, Sanathoi who is ignored, discriminated and betrayed by his own family for his gender identity. Ethoi Oinam, Edhou, Sophia Sapam, Terina Ningombam are the other supporting actors. The film revolves around how Sanathoi live within the sharp barriers, do's and dont's (social taboo), rules and regulations of today's conservative society. The film ends when Sanathoi comes out strong to face the society and his own father after being motivated and inspired by a motivational speech from his friend, LGBT Activist, Ayeengbi (Ethoi Oinam). The film gives a very strong message to the whole world and to the people who consider Homosexuality and Transgender as a curse by strongly essaying and displaying the truth and real vision. The film clearly says it is not by choice that homosexual and transgender people are homosexuals and transgenders. They are perfectly normal like the Straight people.
