The earring ceremony (காதணி விழா)
is a ritual found among Hindu Tamils. In this ritual, children wear a gold earring pierced through the ear. The methods of this ritual vary according to caste.
They are arranging for an earring ceremony by calculating the good day and time. Hair casting and earning is often done in Tamil caste temples. Some perform in houses and halls. Once the location and time has been decided,. They convey the message to key relatives, friends, verbally or to the press.
On that day, when everyone gathers at the ear, children are taken to the Kuladeva temple and put on a bud. Then they bathe them and put on their mother-in-law. The baby is placed in the mother's lap and the ear is pierced by the priest. Then the mother-in-law put on gold earrings. If the mother does not have a daughter, the ear will be placed in the lap of a close relationship.
When the ear is finished, everyone goes to the Kuladeva Temple and worships. They then return to the award-winning homemade vegetarian or vegetarian meal.
In other cultures and countries, it is customary to wear earrings, but the manner in which it is celebrated makes it special among the Tamil people.
