With an overwhelmingly vibrant 1000-year history, a fairy tale like mystique and legend, the world's largest biennially- held tribal religious congregation attracts a multitude of non-tribals also. Held to commemorate the valour of the mother and her daughter, who revolted against the injustices inflicted on tribals in a male-dominated society, it is a celebration of extraordinary women power. Declared as a Telangana State Festival, the four day Medaram Jatara is on the "must-visit" itinerary of anthropologists, historians and tourists from across the globe.
