“Do I need to get an appraisal?”

If you’re obtaining a loan to purchase a property, the bank or lender involved with the loan will order an appraisal. It’s part of the loan process. If you’re paying cash for a property OR doing a 1031 Tax Exchange, an appraisal is at your discretion. Many cash buyers still chose to have an appraisal but it will be up to you to contact an appraiser, order the appraisal and pay the appraiser directly for services rendered.
