It is specifically designed to work with OcuSync 2.0 and has a 5.5 inch 1080p display that works in bright sunlight and extreme conditions. We tested it in cold weather and bright sunlight. We also compared it to the original Mavic 2, Mavic Pro (using iPhone 10) and Phantom 4 Pro+ remote controls to see how it stacks up! While it is not essential to have a Smart Controller to fly your Mavic 2 series drones, it really is a big step up for professional pilots, videographers and photographers. Because it is compatible with OcuSync 2.0, the DJI Smart Controller is also designed to support more DJI aircraft models in the future. I know it’s a luxury, but now that I’ve flown with the DJI Smart Controller, I’m not sure I can ever go back to my original Mavic 2 controller with my phone.
