DIY: How to make a shawl collar. Making a sewn-in shawl collar. Sewing tutorial.

Today we continue working about the shawl collars. Last time I haven’t managed to show you the both types of the shawl collars – one-piece and sewn-in, so today I’ll make a sewn-in collar. The bodice we are going to work with was made on the basis of my 10-measurement system. I’ve just changed the neckline at the front and at the back. You can sew a shawl collar in any neckline you want. You should make the piece in which the collar will be sewn in lay absolutely flat. I’ll sew the collar in till the end. You can sew it till the middle. I use a ruler to connect the beginning of a shoulder and the button stand with a straight line. Draw any collar you want. I want such one. I’ll make it a bit wider here. Some people say that I was born with the scissors in my hand. It’s true! Definitely not with a pencil! I’m not good at drawing, but I’m really good at cutting. My daughter is a very talented artist. When I tell her that I want to draw something, she starts crying because of how hard she laughs. I want to check if all the details match. I’ll sew the collar in when I see that everything is perfect. I’ve forgotten to tell that in all the collars there’s a grain on the centerback. I can’t try it on because of the collar on a dress, so I’ll put it on a dummy. You’ll see how good it fits. I won’t have any problems with it. You’ll see that the collar matches the neckline perfectly. I’ll show you everything when I finish tacking. I recommend you to make a dress similar to the one I’m wearing. It’s pretty easy to make such collar. You can even make it very long, till the waist. Make a dress with a very deep neckline and a long collar and put a top underneath.
