DIVISION 2 | HOW TO GET TO GEAR SCORE 500

As of title update 3, your gear score in the Division 2 maxes out at 500, but hits a soft cap at 450. This means that regular loot you collect will stop being better than your accumulated Gear Score, which is calculated by the best loot you have, equipped or not, so you DO NOT have to have the highest gear score equipment on to get better loot. If you want to get Guaranteed better loot, these specific activities will give you better stuff after hitting 450: -DAILY HARD / CHALLENGING MISSIONS -STRONGHOLD / HEROIC MISSION / BOUNTY BOSSES -ALERT LVL 4 CONTROL POINTS -DARK ZONE CONTAMINATED LOOT Do any of these and you'll for sure get better loot. If you like (or don't mind) PVP, dark zones will be your best option, while performing daily missions and strongholds are probably your best bet if you'd rather stick to COOP.
