Direct flights between Hervey Bay and Melbourne will start next month (Friday, July 21).
Fraser Coast Mayor Chris Loft has confirmed that Australian company Jetgo will launch a twice weekly service flying from Hervey Bay to Essendon using the 37 and 44 seat Embraer Regional Jets.
Initially the twice weekly service will fly on Sundays and Fridays.
Flights will depart Hervey Bay at 11.10am and arrive at Essendon at 1.40pm and depart Essendon at 2.10pm and arrive in Hervey Bay at 4.40pm.
