The film was made to celibate the 150 year centenary of the opening of the Midland Counties Railway in 1839. A number of special trains were run from Derby Including this one The Denby dawdler.It ran the full length of the two branches north of Derby on the midland main line . The first branch visited was know at the time as the Denby Branch Originally it went through to Ripley and joined the line which is now used by the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley the train went as far as the buffers at Mare Hay. The second branch visited was the Wirksworth Branch. The train continued past Wirksworth and ran up the bank to Ravenstor.This line is now the home of the Ecclesbourne valley railway Two cameras were used to make the film and BR gave us permission to travel in the cab of the locomotive
