Deathcore & Death Metal - The difference (serious comparison, no bashing)

First of all: I do not say anywhere that TBDM were deathcore. Spare comments about this. Many people are not sure whether the band they like plays death metal or deathcore music. So here I try to point out the major differences. Don't take chapter 5 too serious !! ;) The video deals with the following aspects: 1. Vocals: - Growls - Pig Squeals - Gang Shouts - Screams - Shouts Mind: In this section, I compare vocal styles. I do not say TBDM is DC!! 2. Lyrics - Death Metal lyrics are considered EVIL. They usually talk about murder, torture, devastation etc. - Deathcore lyrics are considered ANGRY. They usually express hatred at somebody or sth. 3. Music - Breakdowns are a typical part of every true DC song. - Guitar Solos come from DM. Sure there are DC songs with guitar solos. This is because its a genre mix. Solos origin from the DEATH part, not from the CORE part. - Clean Guitars are seldomly used, but when, then in DM - Blast Beats were NOT invented by any metal genre, but by PUNK musicians. They were developed in Grindcore and influenced Death Metal. So blast beats are more CORE than DEATH. Plus there are tons of DM songs without blast beats. In DC hardly any. So you could say: If theres no blast beats, it's probably not Deathcore. - Double Bass, hardly worth mentioning - Dissonances, mostly used in DM. DC is half/half really monotonous and very melodic and complex. The mixup does it. - 6/8 Measured Rhythms are nearly always a sure indication that you listen to DM 4. Look - DM: Usually black clothes, red colored band names on shirts, subtile pictures, long hair, sometimes dreads, sometimes long beards - DC: Very PUNK or even HIP-HOP style, skater-outfit, baseball caps, colored clothes, short hair, short beard or none or only chin 5. Attitude & Preferences ;) (not to be taken too serious) This is making fun of the public images. But there is some truth in every prejudice!! Have fun
