Famously known as Changu Lake, Tsomgo Lake is one the most popular glacial lakes in India. It is situated in the district of East Sikkim, Sikkim , India, It Is located about 38 km away from Gangtok , the capital of Sikkim at an elevation of 12,400 ft. The length , width and average depth of this lake is respectively Nearly 1 km , 0.5 km and 15 m ( 50 ft) . In Bhutia Language TSO = Lake and MGO = Head . In Bhutia language 'Tsomgo' means 'source of the water' or 'Source of Lake' .The lake gets filled with water from the melting snows of the mountains surrounding the lake.This glacial lake is conceived sacred by the local people. It is a famous tourist destination of North or North-East India. Nathula Pass is located at a distance of nearly 53 kms from Gangtok at an altitude of 14,140 ft from sea level. This video was taken on 10 May 2015 at around 12 o’clock. The weather was very good but all of a sudden it changed and started snow fall. We can say weather is very unpredictable here. Tourists are allowed to go close to the indo-china border which is a fence of barbed wires .
