Crop Damage

Days of record rain across the mountains have done significant damage to crops. As high water recedes, local farmers are getting a good look at the problems they now face. Standing water across large stretches of farmland has put growers in a tough spot. Robert Stine's Botanical Treasures Nursery was trashed by floodwaters from two creeks. With the help of employees, friends and customers, Stine is working to put his business back together. Fungicide application will be a big problem for larger growers. They can't get in to treat their vegetables, many already planted late because of a wet spring. The pinch will be passed along as the growing season goes on in an area where it's all about buying local.
