On the travel vlog today we went to the Floating Islands or Uros Islands on Lake Titicaca. Our travel vlogging in Peru continued here today on Lake Titicaca as we started to make our move back towards the city of Puno. But first, in the morning we shot sunrise on Amantani Island where we had our homestay. Of course, I forgot my tripod when I went out to shoot, so I had to hike back up the hill at altitude to retrieve it. Then, after a quick breakfast, we headed off onto Lake Titicaca and towards the Floating Islands. The Floating Islands, also known as the Uros Islands, are made out of reeds and float right in the middle of Lake Titicaca. The history behind the islands is that some of the Aymara people went out onto the waters and built the home islands years ago to hide from the Inca and later the Spanish. Today, the floating islands of Lake Titicaca are mostly there for tourism, but a lot of people still do live on the islands. They are really impressive to see. I mean, they are entire islands built out of reeds, how crazy is that. After our visit to the Uros Islands, we made our way back to the mainland of Peru and to the city of Puno. I've been feeling sick almost this whole time doing the travel vlog in Peru, and my stomach bug has come back. So, we took a fairly chilled our evening and got some food and then called it a day. Stay tuned, though, as there will be more Peru travel vlogs as we start to make our way to Cusco and Machu Picchu.
