Cormorant Depredation on Santee Cooper!

The cormorant problem began on the Santee Cooper Lakes back in the early 2000's! The problem became epidemic around 2009 when the guides on Santee Cooper started noticing a big decline in the numbers of Crappie that were being caught as compared to previous years! The same problem was occurring with the catfish! Here's a quote from Capt. Buster Rush... a local fishing guide on Santee Cooper & Wateree Lakes, "We (the local fishing guides) noticed that the numbers of young fish were disappearing at an alarming rate! We also noticed that the cormorant numbers were increasing at an alarming rate!" South Carolina DNR finally issued permits for depredation after a class was taken...
