Running with the long hood forward, a Canadian National GE ES44DC pulls an ethanol train around a curve, west of Burlington, Illinois on the Freeport sub.
This train was rolling slow, I assume because of the lead engine orientation. In fact, it eventually stopped and blocked the grade crossing for a couple of minutes. So I've edited out a considerable amount of the train due to that.
I was enroute to catch some action on the IC&E Chicago sub, near Genoa, not too far from this location. But when I drove through Burlington, I noticed a MOW truck parked nearby. Suddenly I hear the signal maintainer in the truck call this train to get its location. Knowing that the train was going to pass shortly, and having wanted to get a shot from at this curve, I altered course and quickly set up. Luckily it was moving slowly or I probably would not have had time to get in front of it.
