This is a real life clinical case of a type 2 diabetes patient obtained from an AGE Reader customer active in internal medicine. In this case the AGE Reader measurement was essential in detecting a life threatening cardiovascular complication of a (type 2) diabetes patient. The AGE Reader provides an immediate cardiovascular risk prediction in major chronic diseases such as diabetes, renal failure and cardiovascular disease. The AGE Reader measures tissue accumulation of Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs) by means of fluorescence techniques (skin autofluorescence (skin AF)). AGEs play a key role in the pathogenesis of many age-related diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and renal failure.
