Claude R. Alexander, Jr., D.Min., delivers the Commencement address to the South Hamilton & Boston graduates of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary - May 10, 2014. Ranked among the 75 most influential persons by Charlotte magazine, Bishop Claude Richard Alexander Jr. challenges his audiences—including congregations at three church campuses as well as television and Web viewers—to change their world by living out their faith. Bishop Alexander is a member of the Board of Trustees for Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Serving as senior pastor of The Park Ministries (formerly University Park Baptist Church) since 1990, Bishop Alexander has overseen the rapid growth of the 96-year-old congregation from fewer than 500 members to over 8,000. Whether behind the pulpit, inside the boardroom or through civic leadership, Bishop Alexander brings a dynamic energy and passion for transforming lives to his unique ministry. He currently serves as the co-chair of the Community Building Initiative for the Foundation for the Carolinas, and on the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. Bishop Alexander was born in Waterloo, Iowa and reared in Jackson, Miss. He earned a bachelor's degree from Morehouse College, a master of divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a doctorate of ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Bishop Alexander and his wife Minister Kimberly Nash Alexander have two daughters, Camryn René and Carsyn Richelle.
