Some of you wanted to see my bootleg Chinese fire alarm in action. Well, here's that video. Some of you may have seen this particular alarm on eBay from time to time. Considering it's such an odd device, I try my best to go over it as much as I can. This alarm seems to resemble the classic version of the SpectrAlert series in so many ways. Take note of the overall design of the device; strobe on the bottom, horn on the top, fire lettering on the top, etc. Sure resembles a SpectrAlert to me! However, the device is quite different. For one, this is actually a Multi-tone device (tones video coming soon), quite similar to multi-tone sounder/strobe alarms such as the MASS or the GOS. And this is LOUD, too! The strobe on the device is extremely dim, almost like earlier Wheelock strobes (WS series, 7002T, etc). I have no way of finding information about this particular device. Therefore, it's labeled as "bootleg Spectralert." If anyone has any more info about this device, please, share it! DISCLAIMER 1: It is a FELONY to pull a fire alarm in public to falsely report a fire (i.e. "Just for fun). A fire alarm in a public building should only be pulled if there is actually a fire or other emergency. However, this is being activated in a controlled and legal environment, an enthusiast's test setup. No fire departments were called when activating the alarm. 2: This video contains flashing lights from a strobe. Those prone to seizures from flashing lights SHOULD NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO. 3: In no way am I intending to rip off a SpectrAlert. This is simply a unique device that I happen to have. I AM NOT responsible for any legal damages done for pulling a false alarm, or for any seizures. These are your decisions, not mine!
