Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani during the Shanghai Cooperation Summit in Qingdao on Saturday.
This year’s two-day summit marks the 18th edition and is set to include Pakistan and India as full members after they joined at Astana 2017.
The leaders of all eight member states, four observer states, and heads of international organisations will all be in attendance.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation accounts for almost half of the world’s population, more than 20 percent of global GDP and over 60 percent of the Eurasian landmass, making it the largest regional organisation in the world.
