Pinera was greeted by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang with an official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. After inspecting a guard of honour, the two presidents held an hour of talks on various topics including economic cooperation. Vietnam and Chile established diplomatic relations in 1971. The two countries signed a Free Trade Agreement last year, which is expected to boost bilateral trade. Trading revenue reached 500 (m) million US dollars in 2011. Later on Thursday Pinera is scheduled to hold talks with Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
