Challenger 775E Pulling Vaderstad 8m Drill

This week we were lucky enough to test the brand new Cat Challenger 775E. It is the latest tracked vehicle from Agco and it is amazing. The new Cat Challenger 775E boasts a massive 9.8L diesel engine which outputs an impressive 400 horsepower. We needed to make sure we tested it properly so we also borrowed the latest Vaderstad 8 metre Rapid 800C drill to pull behind it. Together, these two make an excellent team. For the short time we used it, we managed to drill 35 acres an hour travelling at an average speed of 17.2kmh. As a comparison, our own CAT 765C pulling the Vaderstad 6m in the same field was drilling at a rate of 20 acres per hour, travelling only 13.5kmh. For both these tests we were drilling spring barley. Warter Priory is a world class farming operation set in the heart of East Yorkshire amidst 12,000 acres. At Warter, we pride ourselves on our reputation for quality and efficient farming. The main crops we focus on growing are wheat, barley and oilseed rape. We also grow peas in partnership with Birds Eye and some of our land is used for growing potatoes.
