This work explores the reminiscences of a CD8+ T cell's life from its deathbed. Starting with development in the thymus, this composition will briefly survey the initial naivety, the activation through binding to an antigen-presenting cell, and the destruction of antigen-specific target cells as part of the immune response. The crux of the piece will emphasize the termination of the immune response due to the elimination of the pathogen, resulting in the intrinsic Bim-mediated apoptosis of the CD8+ T cell. In highlighting the finality of the cell's death from the declining immune response, the recording will both mourn and praise a fulfilled life.

Hey, slow it down
Why is Bim active now
Why is Bim active now
Yeah, I'm afraid
Why am I dying now
Why am I dying now
There used to be a time
When I was simply immature
I bound no antigen
My life was such a bore
Now look at me
I obtained a mate
From APC
With a viral bait
This infection
Yeah, it's going to flee
From the Fas and granzymes
Hey, here comes a killer cell
Here comes a killer cell
Here comes a killer cell
Yeah, fought the virus
And the infected cells
It was a long war
But we, we prevailed
Using caspase-3
We defeated the enemy
Now that they're gone
IL-2 has decreased
No BCL-2
Is messing up me
Mitochondria
Need a second to breathe
While they leak out their guts
Hey, why am I dying now
Bim's killing me
While cytochrome c
Leads to cleaving of
My DNA
I'm leaving this world
'Cause the infection's gone
So I'll say my good byes
Hey, why am I dying now
Why is Bim active now
Why am I dying now
Here comes a killer cell
