The original leather plectrum is seen to be weak and can easily be broken off. The old leather is pushed from the tongue mortise and discarded. The specially moulded Morley delrin facilitates the plectra conversion of this type of instrument. The new delrin plectrum is seated firmly in the square mortise, and the jack is ready for voicing.
