Casablanca - Morocco City Tour

Casablanca ("White house"), the largest city of Morocco, is located in the western part of the country on the Atlantic Ocean. It is also the largest city in the Maghreb, as well as one of the largest and most important cities in Africa, both economically and demographically. The 2012 census, adjusted It has a population of about 4 million Casablanca is considered the economic and business center of Morocco, while the national political capital is Rabat. The Port of Casablanca is one of the largest artificial ports in the world and the largest port of North Africa. The Hassan II Mosque or Grande Mosque Hassan II is a mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. It is the largest mosque in Morocco and Africa and the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's tallest at 210 meters (689 ft.). Completed in 1993 ($750 Mil), it was designed by Michel Pinseau and built by Bouygues. The minaret is 60 stories high topped by a laser, the light from which is directed towards Mecca. The mosque stands on a promontory looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, the sea bed being visible through the glass floor of the building's hall. The walls are of hand-crafted marble and the roof is retractable. A maximum of 105,000 (25,0000 inside + 80,000 outside) worshipers can gather together for prayer. Lancienne-mahakma-du-pacha is the old Muslim court Pacha in Casablanca. Completed in 1952, the building of Moorish style, has more than sixty rooms decorated with carved wooden ceilings, stucco, glazed tiles and wrought iron grilles. The building is quite beautiful testimony to the talent of Moroccan artisans.
