Carlos Boozer delivered a monster performance with 27 points & 20 rebounds as the Utah Jazz defeated the Lakers 104-99 in Game 3 of the 2008 Western Conference Semifinals at a raucous Energy Solutions Arena.
Trailing 0-2 and averaging just 12.5pts and 9.5reb in Games 1&2, Boozer responding in a big way - as he surprisingly established himself on the defensive end early. In the 1st-qtr Boozer forced two Laker turnovers which led to Deron Williams fastbreak baskets (0:50-mark) and suddenly found his scoring touch.
After racking up 16 points and 16 rebounds through 3-quarters of play, Boozer delivered bigtime in the 4th-qtr with 11 points on 5-7 shooting. He turned in an "untraditional" 3pt-play (4:47-mark) to give Utah a 9-point lead with under 5 minutes to play. Then, after LA had cut Utah's lead to 95-92 with 3-minutes remaining, Boozer went on a 6-0 run of his own (5:48-mark) that finished the Lakers off.
Boozer became only the second Jazz player to post a 20-point/20-rebound game in the postseason.
With the victory the Jazz cut the Lakers lead to 2-games-to-1 in their best-of-7 series.
