In the summer of 2012 I had the opportunity to play at a percussion festival in Argentina where I met a lot of new people from throughout South America and experienced local traditional music. It was wonderful to see everyone dancing and singing, showing a sense of community and shared culture.
"Cantora de Yala," by Gustavo Leguizamon, is a zamba from Argentina. The zamba, not to be confused with Brazilian samba, has six beats to the measure and the accompanying dance is majestic characterized by couples circling each other and waving white handkerchiefs.
