https://www.snowboard-asylum.com/820716 What do you get if you cross the most iconic board in the history the sport with snowboarding’s most creative crew of young riders? Well, what you don’t get is a hilarious punchline, however what you do get is one of the most exciting reinterpretations of Burton’s legendary Custom that we’ve ever seen. Taking the Customs directional chassis, the Kilroy crew have extended the nose and shorten the tail, delivering a mind blowing evolution of this stunning board that pretty much creates a whole new sub-genre of snowboard, freestyle/carving/powder. By combining that reimagined shape with the Custom’s traditional camber profile, the Kilroy Custom ensures that the when you get this board out onto the mountain, it’s an absolute blast to ride. However, thanks to that extended nose and fish inspired shortened V tail, not only does it deliver mind blowing performance on piste it’s also going to blow your socks off when you get it out into the deep stuff. The fact that it does this without really sacrificing its freestyle heritage just goes to show how versatile this board really is. Now one of the best decisions that Burton and the Kilroy crew made when coming up with this board was to wind back the performance a notch, this stroke of genius just took that aggressive edge off the board and made it a little bit more playful, and it’s this playfulness that just makes it such a hoot to ride. Internally it utilises Burton’s 800G Super-Fly II wood core with Squeezebox-Low profiling. This lightweight wood core gives the perfect balance of strength pop and power. But, it’s that Squeezebox that is the secret to the Kilroy Customs fun ride. This reduces the core thickness between the feet creating a softer flex through the middle of the board to deliver that superb playful feel. But don’t go thinking this is a noodle because it’s really not. Thanks to Tri-Ax glass structural layers, which deliver a stiffer torsional flex, the Kilroy Custom still has the power to really let you push it to the max. Finally, as you would expect, Burton fit a high-grade sintered base because obviously, you’ll want to go really fast.
