I decided to attempt this and it turned out phenomenally! I decided on Building my first Ugly Drum Smoker (UDS); from beginning to completion!
With a 1/3 basket it held a 250 degree average for 5-6 hours with all intakes wide open during the seasoning step!!
The four elbow exhaust configuration seems to work out fine!

MAIN
1 - Steel Barrel (food or oil barrel) - NOTE if oil barrel will require additional tools like hammer, angle grinder (or some cutter to get the top off), and pliers to flair out the lip for the lid to fit perfect. *ADDITIONAL NOTE* Food barrels come with removable lid... makes for a much easier project.
HARDWARE
7 - 3/4" inch pipe nipple
14 - conduit washers
1 - pipe cap
2 - 3/4" ball valves
2 - 3/4" black pipes 18" long
6 - 3/4" inch elbow 90 degree
34 - stainless steel nuts washers and lock washers
28 - stanless steel bolts (4 for each wheel, 2 for each air pipe bracket, 8 for the rack pins, 2 for each handle)
4- 3/4” pipe plugs
3 - 2” casters (wheels)
2 - U shaped brackets
2 - 18 inch circular bbq racks
4 - handles
TOOLS:
1- Wire brush drill attachment
1- Steel wire hand brush
2- Spray paint - HIGH HEAT (bbq spray)
1- Step bit that goes to 3/4”
1- measuring tape, yard stick, or dollar bill ;)
1- marker
1 - dish soap, WD-40 or other cooling agent for drilling
1- Drill
