GLADSTONE, Missouri - America —A Gladstone third-grader is being praised for helping to save a classmate from a would-be kidnapper. Police said a man tried to kidnap a girl Monday morning near north Flora Park, but Luke Larson, 9, rushed in to the rescue at just the right time. “It just happened so fast, so I (didn’t) really realize it,” Larson said. A group of his classmates were taking a popular route to walk to school Monday morning when Larson said a strange man approached one of the girls. “He was behind her and he grabbed her right there,” he said. “I thought that was her dad, but then she started screaming my name, so I started running back down to her.”The sound of her screaming and Larson’s approaching footsteps was enough to scare off the man. Police said he ran away.
Larson said he took the girls arm and helped her run up the hill.
