Bonnie Prince Billy of Palace Brothers, Palace Songs, and Palace Music performs a riveting version of "Imperial Statues", written by Lexington Kentucky's Paul K, within his film within a film, "A Wilderness of Mirrors". http://paulksongs.bandcamp.com/track/bonnie-prince-billy-imperial-statues-paul-k (purchase song). Based on his landmark record of the same name, this film took over 15 years to produce and it looks likely a Renaissance for Paul K's music, both past and present will imminently occur. Bonnie Prince Billy is accompanied by Mark Lupe Hamilton on a beautiful open-tuned guitar, according to Billy (via email), is a "Harmony Hollywood from the late 50's or early 60's. There's no serial number or anything so I can't pin point the year exactly". Both are stunningly in character as Migrating Musicians within Paul K's, self-professed, "Rock Opera" Released on Alias Records in 1998, the record's tale, based on the book of Job, is uplifting and thrilling, a 17-song, 63 minute opus. "If Love Is A Gas - a chilling meditation on romance, betrayal and moral decay - was a mile stone for the prolific songwriter, then the ambitious song cycle - A Wilderness of Mirrors (complete with faux-soundtrack-album packaging) is his magnum opus." (taken from PULSE! magazine) Paul continues to record and play live today. Catch up with him at: http://paulksongs.bandcamp.com "Now's the time to catch up with one of the few songwriters expanding the tradition of Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Pete Townshend for the 90's, the greatest unknown songwriter of his generation" -Chicago Tribune "One of our dark, yet great, Americana songwriting resources" -Raygun "Few artists today display keener social commentary or more adept storytelling skills" -No Depression "One of his generations most compelling songwriting voices" -Entertainment Weekly "One of the post-punk generation's first bona fide bluesmen, a guy whose tales from the darkside are drawn from personal experiences with the jailhouse record to prove it. Told with a novelist's eye for detail he never makes the mistake of substituting atmosphere for insight" -TROUSER PRESS Catch up with Paul K at: http://paulksongs.bandcamp.com
