It was a beautiful day in Williamburg, Brooklyn with a blue sky and 77 degrees on Saturday. Andy Golub painted his model Kara. People know Andy Golub for live bodypainting in the streets of New York City. In the summer of 2011, police arrested Andy along with several of his models. But with the help of lawyer Ron Kuby and the NYCLU, the city finally acknowledged that public nudity is legal if it is part of an artistic expression. Bodypainting is just a part of what he does. In 2012-2013, he showcased canvases and painted objects at the CBGB´s Festival, Cutlog Art Fair, LFA Gallery, Pomona Cultural Center and Crest Art Show. He painted a mural at the 5Pointz graffiti wall and went to South Korea to judge the Daegu Int´l Bodypainting Festival. And since 2007, Andy has painted automobiles that have been featured in NYC´s Halloween and Mermaid Parades. His work has been covered by 100´s of magazines, newspapers and websites worldwide. Andy Golub believes that art shouldn´t be limited to canvases or bound to be in only indoor spaces. He makes up the art as he goes, because he believes that the present is as important as any other moment. To him, art is about self-discovery and sharing it with people.
