** (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) ** The following video is a joint release Critical Incident of the Grass Valley Police Department and the Nevada County Sheriff's Office. Personnel from both agencies were involved in an officer involved shooting on January 1st, 2020 in unincorporated Nevada County in the 10000 block of Walker Drive. Nevada County Regional Dispatch received reports of a man walking on Squirrel Creek Road with a shotgun. He was later identified as 25-year old Gabriel Strickland. Upon arrival, deputies and officers ordered Mr. Strickland to drop the weapon. He did not comply. Mr. Strickland pointed the weapon in multiple directions including at officers and deputies as they approached. Following the incident, it was determined the shotgun was, in fact, an Airsoft weapon that mimicked the appearance of a shotgun.
