Bob James, Theme 'onara' from 'daejangkeum'

"Angels of Shanghai" was released on Apr 10, 2007 on the Koch label. The recording featured Nathan East, Harvey Mason, Jack Lee and Lewis Pragasam accompanying Bob James. Additional accompaniment was provided by five students from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music performing on traditional Chinese instruments. Bob James is renowned for his participation in the establishment of the Smooth Jazz Genre during the "1970's". He received a Grammy award for his collaboration with David Sanborn on the "1986" album "Double Vision". "Onara" is a theme from the Korean television show "Dae Jang Geum". The English translation for Dae Jang Geum is Great Jang Geum. The show was broadcast on (MBC Global) during the period between September of "2003" to March of "2004". The broadcast consisted of "54" episodes. The drama depicts the triumph of a young Korean girl who, being born into a male dominated society, found life obstructed by adversity and prejudice. The setting was around the mid-1400s to mid-1500s, during the Chosun Dynasty era. With assistance from a mentor, diligence, and perseverance she gained the mastery over life's transient qualities that allowed her to eventually become the royal physician.
