Two Cute Baby Blue Jays
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztk7UPyTiH8
The Blue Jay has a lot of different and complex calls that they make. Each specifically meaning something. Even slight variations in a call can mean something entirely different. I tried capturing as many different calls and behaviors as I could in this compilation of videos. One of the clips in this video, shows a male Blue Jay giving a female, a little peanut food offering. This is a part of a courting ritual done during mating season but the food offerings will continue on into the late of summer. Blue Jays mate for life, so unless something happens to their partner they will continue to mate with the Jay they have chosen, year after year after year. In another clip near the end you will see one Jay flick over a leaf to take the other jay's peanut that it had just stashed there, but the other Jay wasn't going to have it's stash stolen, so it fraught back and took it's peanut to stash elsewhere. Blue Jays will steal another blue jays stash, seems a peanut or any other food, must just be better when it has been stolen.
