Organic traffic for March 2019 came in at the second highest all-time at 237 visits and is up 78.20% when comparing year-over-year (237 vs. 133). I’ve been seeing noticeable improvements in terms of search engine rankings as of lately and this correlates directly to the organic traffic increases I’m seeing year-over-year as well.
When looking at the trend of my organic traffic over the long-term, I’m definitely heading in the right direction. As bloggers, we have to remain patient and know that this is truly a marathon and NOT a sprint. Organic growth does not happen overnight and we need to maintain realistic expectations.
Two areas of focus for me moving forward are highlighted below:
Target Less Competitive Keywords - Many bloggers do not see much traction with their website simply because they are targeting keywords that are way too competitive. This leaves them buried in the search results. Once in a while it’s okay to try and target a keyword that is very competitive, but if you’re looking to make some progress, I highly recommend targeting long-tail type phrases (keywords that have 3, 4, 5+ words in them). Some of my best performing blog posts target these long-tail keywords and I am more easily able to rank for them.
Quality and Comprehensive Content - It’s more important than ever now to craft content that is both quality and comprehensive. Google wants to rank articles in the top of their search results that really cover a particular subject in its entirety. Make sure your content is detailed, in-depth and provides a ton of value to your readers for your best chance of ranking in the SERPs.
How was your March 2019
