Bihar Police will soon release a notification for the recruitment of 30,500 sub-inspectors (SI) and constables. Out of the total vacancies, 24,000 will be for constables, 4,500 for SI and 2,000 for drivers. According to a media report, the state government has given its approval to the recruitment process. Bihar police department is now preparing the module for the recruitment process which is likely to be conducted in two phases. The recruitment process is expected to start by August-end, details of which will be announced on the official website of Bihar Police. The application process is expected to be online. This is for the first time that a massive recruitment drive will be conducted by Bihar Police. The decision to conduct the recruitment process has come in the wake of state government’s recent move to separate the investigation arm from the law-and-order division at all 1,066 police stations. Additionally, the police to people ratio in Bihar Police is also very low. According to the Bureau of Police Research and Development report 2017, the ratio in Bihar Police when compared with the population is 1:839. This year, 1,665 vacancies of constables were filled in Bihar Police, the recruitment process of which was starred in 2018. The exam was arranged for a total 1,717 posts. In 2018, 9,000 vacancies were announced for the Constable post and 1,965 for Fireman post. However, in November the recruitment process was cancelled and the recruitment was not conducted.
