When something is hit the first thing people see is a bent blade and assume that replacing just the blade will make their machine cut level again. Then they move to replacing the spindle thinking it's bent and that with a new spindle and new blade it will cut like new. That is usually not the case with a light weight stamped deck found on most lawn tractors these day. What happens is the deck shell itself actually bends. This will cause your blades to not line up and cause your mower to not cut level. A lot of places pound on the deck with a sledge hammer or something similar and say "It's close enough" or "Its still off, but better than it was".
