My stomach was removed 3 years ago in a total gastrectomy operation after I was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Yoga and meditation were a huge part of my recovery, and I am now a qualified yoga and meditation teacher.
This is a simple exercise I regularly practice that has helped me reconnect with my belly. There was tightness and discomfort in this part of the body after my stomach was removed, and I would hold on or clench up here as a way to block the pain. For me this exercise was a simple and gentle method to begin feeling into my belly again, and I have found I no longer feel as much pain here.
Please be gentle with this exercise, and if you do feel any sharp pain, or discomfort, ease off or even stop!
