Barcelona have decided not to pursue Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before Friday’s transfer deadline, according to reports. The Catalan giants are keen to sign a striker following Luis Suarez’s injury but the Gabon international won’t be moving to Catalonia. Barcelona admire Aubameyang and, with Suarez expected to miss most of the remainder of the season through injury, the Arsenal star has been linked. The Gabon international has just 18 months left on his contract over in north London and, so far, is yet to sign a renewal. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has expressed a desire to keep hold of the 30-year-old, who he insists is central to his plans. But Barcelona, Catalan newspaper Sport say, will not be going for Aubameyang before Friday’s transfer deadline. With 14 goals from 22 games, the former Borussia Dortmund star would certainly be a sufficient replacement for Suarez. But Barcelona can’t afford to sign him from Arsenal, who reports have suggested would demand a fee of £50million to let him go.
