If your debut album is as good as 'Applause', it must be damn scary to release your second album, especially if you know that the second album is quite different than your highly succesful debut album. Balthazar was in this situation until today. Their debut album 'Applause' was a great album from beginning to end filled with fun jittery indie songs. Their second album 'Rats' is something pretty different, but luckily it's tremendously good. The album sounds more mature and more finished than 'Applause' did, though at a first listen you might miss the crunchy upbeatness their first album had.
