I was minnow and nightcrawler fishing from shore at lakes in New York during spring (late April, 2014). Early and later in the day, I was fishing with nightcrawlers and worms on 3-way slip sinker bait rigs each with a fluorocarbon leader going to a size 4 aberdeen hook and a breakaway mono leader going to a weight, and I was targeting big yellow perch and other big panfish. In the middle of the day, I was crappie fishing with minnows, and I was also nightcrawler fishing for pumpkinseed sunfish. I ended up catching some jumbo perch, brown bullhead, black crappie, pumpkinseed sunfish, and rock bass -- most of the panfish species around here -- as well as some non-target walleye, bass, and stocked rainbow trout.
This is one of many videos in the Bait Fishing series -- watch others for numbers of fish, trophy fish, the tips and techniques I pick up along the way, and more!
