The 5-thread safety stitch, which has limited elasticity, is ideal for woven fabrics or for stabilising embroidered fabrics. To carry out a 5-thread stitch on your b48, please see our video tutorial on threading the overlocker or coverstitch threading. For overlock stitch, you will need the left or right overlock needle and green thread tension. For chainstitch, you will need the middle coverstitch needle and yellow thread tension. We will look at the basic settings for the required stitch, in particular the thread tensions, the stitch length, the differential feed, the knife position, the roll hem lever and the presser foot pressure. When the overlock looper threads and the needle thread have been laid to the left, we can cut the chain looper thread and then start sewing. When the needles are fully raised, the knife is fully raised and open. After the initial sewing, you can check the stitch and make any necessary adjustments.
