In this lecture/discussion from my Spring 2013 Introduction to Philosophy class, we begin our study of St. Augustine's classic work On Free Choice of the Will, discussing several aspects of Augustine's approach to Christian philosophy, then moving into the question of theodicy and the problem of evil. We then discuss Augustine's views on what actually is wrong or bad in wrong actions, working through a number of unsatisfactory answers to the question until we arrive at the will, its desires and choice, and the objects to which it gives priority.
