The AMD Athlon x4 950 is one of the cheapest CPUs available for the AM 4 platform, it is a quad-core featuring AMDs old Excavator Architecture. Due to my previous experience with an Athlon x4 860K I was not expecting much and the benchmarks with the x4 950 did confirm my feelings, the Athlon x4 950 is one of the slowest quad-core CPUs you can buy today! Even in the comparison G4560 vs x4 950, the x4 950 is clearly not up to par with Intel's hyperthreathed dual-core CPUs. So my review of the Athlon x4 950 is accordingly. The CPU stays afloat in most games but cannot deliver an enjoyable gaming experience most of the time.
