Asus Zenbook U500 / UX51VZ review: powerful 15 inch ultrabook

It's premium, just like the Zenbook UX31A ultrabooks, it's made from sturdy aluminium and packs a lot of powerful guts into a 20mm chassis which weights only 2 kilograms. In Europe and some other pats of the world, the Asus U500 is also known as Asus UX51VZ or the Asus UX51. Several configs are available and more will be available later. Details below: - Asus UX51VZ-DH71 - the cheaper option, goes for around $1900 in the US or 1700 euros and offers a 128 GB SSD; - Asus UX51VZ-XH71 with a 512 GB Raid 0 SSD, selling for around $2400 in the Staes and around 2000 euros in Europe. All the other specs are similar to the ones on our tested unit Specs include a quad core Intel Core i7 3612QM processor, dedicated Nvidia GT 650M graphics, 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD made by coupling two 128 GB SSD in RAID 0. The 74 wHr battery lasts only 3.5 hours unfortunately, but this was a pre production sample, so I expect the final version, powered by Windows 8, to solve all these problems. Currently the Asus UX51VZ is the best premium 15 inch ultraportable laptop to get if you don't want to make compromises.
