The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific hosts some of the world's most prominent Asia-themed academic blogs including New Mandala, East Asia Forum and South Asia Masala. Blogging breaks new ground for many academics. Its immediacy, the opportunities to take ideas to a wide public, and the potential for open debate and discussion are all big advantages of blogging. As part of 2011 Asia Pacific Week the University will host the first annual Asia Pacific Master Blogging Challenge. This will be a chance for some of the best bloggers from around the College, and beyond, to showcase their talents in a live and interactive format. The bloggers are expected to demonstrate skill, flair, precision and time management in an auditorium atmosphere where the audience will crown the College's 2011 Master Blogger. http://asiapacific.anu.edu.au/blogs/challenge/ The blog that Graeme Dobell writes during the challenge can be found on the Lowy Interpreter website: http://www.lowyinterpreter.org/post/2011/07/13/Blogging-on-beer-bikes-and-a-book.aspx
