This is the latest art journal that I have finished. I use a lot of magazine collage mixed with different types of paints, inks, and whatever else I had lying around. The journal itself is made from an old cardboard box that a pie came in in which I scrunched tissue paper and drowned in mod podge to give it a leathery look. I did this art journal in a totally different way than I did the previous one. For starters, I kept all the pages loose until I finished all the backgrounds. One I bound the pages in, using the easy twine binding method, I then added the subject images along with the words and accents. It would so fun to not over think it and just have fun! In other words: sometimes, you just have to glue a bunch of crap down and have fun with it. :) I originally had 2 videos about this journal on my main channel from a few months ago, but I thought it would be neat to do an updated video since starting this channel. I hadn't looked back through the whole art journal since filming the last video. So, it was fun to do. I live in a tiny town in Tennessee. I love doing fun and easy art --especially collage and mixed media journal pages-- as a way to relieve stress and give me an escape from my daily grind. I work in a very conservative and rule driven environment. So, these little art projects of mine have become my form of therapy. There's little better to me than sitting down and ripping up a bunch of magazine pages, getting covered in glue, and splattering some paint and seeing where it takes me. There's no worrying about rules, terms, judgments, or anything like that. I just go with it and have a good time.
