Inspired by the works of Serge Lebrasse, Roger Augustin, Alain Ramanisum, Roger Clency, Cassiya, Sandra Mayotte, Dominique Barret and the rest, Aniele, the granddaughter of France Jemon has emerged as a new wave of séga in Sydney since 1995.
After heading the dance group SEGA DOWN UNDER for some fifteen years, Aniele has kept the Mautitian Kreol culture alive with performances throughout Sydney and elsewhere in Australia, including the Sydney 2000 Olympics. She also performed for the launch of Air Mauritius in Sydney.
In 2006, Aniele demonstrated the Mauritian folkloric song and dance to the world through World Music in Wormadelaide. Her original professional sega workshop in South Australia was considered to be the most accurate one.
When, away from sega, Aniele has performed in night clubs with the band, TORRID ZONE or with Gervais Koffi's band AFRICAN DIASPORA.
This clip is from the launch of her first album "Roulé Séga" created in 2007 in collaboration - Nancy Derougere, Mario Justin and Zotsa.
Following this launch, she was asked to represent Australia in Mauritius for the "Festival Kreol' where she shared the same stage alongside OSB, Linzy Bacbotte, Cassiya and Zotsa..
