In the United States, the number of vehicles on the road and the mileage driven remain near an all-time high, exposing millions of Americans to the harmful impacts of tailpipe pollution. The American Lung Association report, "A Penny for Prevention: The Case for Cleaner Gasoline and Vehicle Standards" urges EPA to adopt strong standards to reduce the toll of death and disease caused by pollution from cars, light trucks and SUVs.
